Overwhelming response to the inaugural Swiss Support to Arts Development in Zimbabwe (SSADZA) Fund open call leads to extended selection process.

FOR IMMIDIATE RELEASE.

Harare, Zimbabwe – [03 February 2025] – The first open call for the Swiss Support to Arts Development in Zimbabwe (SSADZA) Fund has received an extraordinary response, with over 300 organisations and individuals submitting applications showcasing their creative ideas and artistic works and intended projects. Due to this overwhelming interest and the high quality of so many of the applications, Stimulus Africa Foundation, in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland and the SSADZA Advisory Board, are extending the review process to ensure a fair and thorough evaluation of all submissions.

As a result, the announcement of the inaugural SSADZA Fund awardees will be made on the 12th February, 2025. This adjustment will allow the selection panel to carefully assess each application and allocate funding to the most impactful projects that align with the fund’s objectives of supporting Zimbabwe’s creative and cultural industries creation and showcasing of new artistic works.

“We are truly inspired by the depth of creativity and innovation reflected in so many of the applications,” said Rudo Nyangulu-Mungofa, Executive Director at Stimulus Africa Foundation. “The sheer volume of submissions from across the country speaks to the need for greater investment in the arts in Zimbabwe, and we are committed to a rigorous selection process that ensures fairness and transparency.”

The SSADZA Fund team extends its gratitude to all applicants for taking the time to craft thoughtful proposals. While the fund cannot accommodate all submissions in this round, we look forward to supporting some of these incredible projects and to future opportunities for engagement with the sector in the second round for 2025 that will be launching at the end of April 2025.
